You are a stickler for creating, demonstrating and upholding the highest standards when it comes to people and their health & safety in the workplace. Not only are you methodical and logical in process and operational standards, you love connecting with those around you to help them understand why we care about their health and safety. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Driving the People Health & Safety strategy from policies and programs to practice and enforcement

  • Create & ensure risk management processes are continuously updated and upheld

  • Promote the value of Health & Safety in our environment (includes Contractors & Trades)

  • Facilitate hazard analysis and risk assessments across all office and greenhouse disciplines

  • Implement and educate behaviour-based health and safety practices

  • Manage and coordinate incident reporting, analysis and learnings

  • Prepare and implement emergency response plans

  • Ensure compliance in Health & Safety to standards from Health Canada

  • Partner and support Operations and to establish health and safety objectives and implementing strategies in all areas of Greenhouse operations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

We already know you are passionate about Occupational Health and Safety, but we want to know more about your strengths. You’re good at the following:

  • Evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law

  • Demonstrating and sharing your vision of a safe and healthy work environment.  Communicating with all members of the organization and external stakeholders demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills  

  • Developing relationships, while enforcing safety programs and regulations with fairness and integrity

  • Organizing and prioritizing your work to meet deadlines, and can adapt to unexpected priorities

  • Working well alone or in a collaborative team environment

WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED AND WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

  • Health and Safety Administrator certification (HSA) or hold a certificate and/or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized institution

  • In-depth knowledge of the BC Workers Compensation Act and OH&S Regulation

  • Experience conducting investigations and assessments

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related field

  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 Training
